In My Dreams

In My Dreams

A Poem by *~*Butterfly Kisses*~*

I am asleep, but awakened

By a clouded purple haze

Deep within my memories.

Smelling the sweet fragrances

Aromas of beautiful vivid images

Roses and purple lilacs

Overwhelming all my senses

Aligned along a golden path.

A gate awaits for me,

Following an angelic voice

Leading me closer and closer

To my garden secretly guarded

By vines and trees,

And I only hold the key.

My imagination wanders more,

As I search and explore rivers

Of my thoughts watching the kois

And other critters scurrying around

In my world, created by my own mind.

She waits for me, in a glimmered reflection

Sitting atop a boulder, fit for her and me.

We speak of our thoughts and wants

As she describes her heavenly home

That I keep witnessing within my memories

'Neath the moonlit diamond skies.

She smiles in the most loving way

To reassure me that all will be alright

The sun begins to rise and morning arrives

As I am awakened once more,

Missing her smile and her warmth

That I can only have within my dream world.

I can almost relate, but in a much less pretty and happy way haha. It's beautiful that you can remember your mother this way, and that you can write in this manner when you miss her. When those we love are no longer a part of this stark, real world, the comfort they can bring in the ethereal landscapes of our dreams and imaginations helps to keep their memory, and the part of your heart they occupied, alive. Superbly written, keep up the awesome writing.

I knew it was about your mother even before I read the author's note. This poem is so tender and moving. The first few stanzas create a dreamy air which is so fitting to the theme, and the poem seamlessly moves on to a more sentimental mood towards the end. The opening lines are simply magnificent! The delicate imagery holds the poem together beautifully.
One minor critical note: I think the last line of the third stanza would read better if it were
"And only I hold the key"
instead of
"And I only hold the key"

But a fantastic write nonetheless. Gracefully done!

Amazing and beautiful. I wish I had this kind of relationship with my own mother. Sounds like you really miss her a lot. You wrote this poem really well, and is definitely a honorable dedication to the woman she was. You just did an amazing job. I know you probably miss her, but one day you will see her again.

everybody has strong feelings for their parents, and i can respect the sentiment behind this poem, i really love the way it flows, so happy yet sad at the same time, the balance is perfect, i wrote a poem for my Mother and Father , i've lost two irreplaceable treasures in my life, an i had nothing but words to mark their absence and fill that gaping hole left inside of me.. this really reminded me of those moments, because i used to dream of them and i still see them in my dreams, at times of both sadness and happiness

Don't let reality and dreams confuse, it is a harsh world, but also beuatiful. This is quite remarkable, I felt this write inside and out. Nicely done ♥

An engagement with the physical world can both introduce us to life or have us remake our dreams for something better. Each represents an opportunity for growth. To remake our dreams is something all of us may have to do someday. Nice write!
