I Curse You

I Curse You

A Poem by Carrie Montgomery

I curse you , scales, and the way you lie-
There's NO WAY I am one-six-five!
I've walked and walked and starved myself,
there are no cookies on my shelf.
I don't eat cakes, fats, or pies.
I don't eat candy, carbs, or fries.
I drink water and count calories
I exercise 'till I can't breathe!
I walk until my hiney's sore,
then I walk and walk some more.
Every day- rain or shine,
I'm out walking my big behind!
I should have lost five pounds or ten,
I'm going to weigh myself again!
...I curse you scales and the way you lie-
There's NO WAY I am one-six-five!

Carrie, you're cursing the scales because you can't lose weight, while i have the opposite problem of gaining it right now. Joys of being a diabetic. It has taken me, 4 months to gain 1.4 lbs. Trade ya? Hoping that you are eating breakfast, which is the best way to start burning the calories off the old body. Be careful that you are not denying your body any minerals or vitamins that are vital for your body.

Your poetic rant flow before the reader's eye, like the smoothest silk. Conveying your frustration and anger at your body's inability to lose weight and the scales for showing this. Am willing to trade my doctor's scale for yours. Thank you for sharing this personal poem with us.

What a cute write! Very unique. I should be cursing my scales big time...course, once you turn 40 it is a whole new ball game.

Whatever you do, don't ever not eat. I am sure you know this...If your body goes into starvation mode, it slows your metabolism way down and you won't lose a thing.

I didn't catch what you were talking about until I read all the way through. For some reason I thought you were talking to your husband, and then it finally hit me! The scales. Very funny. Nice rhythm & perfect rhyme!!!!!

Carrie my friend how very unusual and I loved every word. To think a lovely poem as this comes from a mere set of scales. Good imagery and of course the scales are wrong lol. Anne.xxx

very well done. it is such a common experience yet you have managed to put it on a different plain. what i like most is your subtle sense of humor inside.
