No More...

No More...

A Poem by DJ
"

A need to express emotions after receiving some bad news in hospital yesterday

"

Wait… Wait… Wait…

Silent and somber, he lies in wait of medical results

Awaiting the white coat with whom he consults

Fear of answers, makes his body tremble

Filled with questions, as the doctors all assemble

Wait… Wait… Wait…

His thoughts trail off, escaping from his bed

His body lies stagnant, though his mind has fled

Pale blue sheets a soft reminder of the sky

Faint echoes of steps, as people pass him by

Wait… Wait… Wait…

Thoughts of his loved ones fill his heart

Even though for now, they are far apart

He hopes to go home and see them all soon

To escape the dreary, pristine hospital room

Wait… Wait… Wait…

Cold reality, a distraction needed…

The dragon’s fiery breath interceded

Burning, blazing inferno of astonishing fire

As red explodes, engulfing the sky a sight to admire

Wait… Wait… Wait…

Clatter and clank of trolleys out in the hallway

Feeding the sick, keeping hunger at bay

Nurses rushing to help, with hearts so kind

To every patient that they are assigned

Wait… Wait… Wait…

White walls, a restriction from the beauty outside

Where the dragons red breath and darkness collide

Black silently steals the illuminating light of the day

Plunging into darkness as the days images fade

Wait… Wait… No more

As the doctor creeks open the door

Heavy footsteps pound the hard, cold floor

He silently sits next to the metal framed bed

And starts to shake his already balding head

No more… No more… No more…

Breath… constricted, under arrest

As he awaits the results of his test

“I’m sorry son, the tumor has grown

That is what the MRI has shown”

No more… No more… No more…

Wait… no more, the answer is here

Inside he burns with impending fear

“I think it’s time, another round of chemo is due”

Heart drops at the thought of what he has to get through

No more… No more… No more…

He sits, contemplation resting solemnly on his face

He had his hopes up, thought he was winning the race

He tells his love, his closest friend

“Don’t worry baby, it’s is not the end”

No more… No more… No more…

Fear consumes him, somewhere in the dark abyss

His love, worried, a tender kiss parts from her lips

Forced courage spreads across his expression

Two souls understand, a silent confession

No more… No more… Please…

Both desire the war to be over

Until that day, together they will fight on

On his chest her head gently lay

As he survives to fight another day

Please… Please… End this

After being sick recently, I got told yesterday that the tumor in my brain has grown and that I need to go for chemo... again... I need to release some emotions, so you will probably be seeing a few sad/dark poems from me. Thank you for pausing with me, thank you for taking the time to read. I know how valuable time is. Love and peace to you all.

I am so sorry Cairo. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I love the repetition in this poem "No more… No more…" it gives us a window into your heart. I know that you want this nightmare to end, keep being brave and fight on. I have no idea what you must be going through but I feel it in your poem. You are an excellent poet, fantastic poem.

Simple, yet powerfully heartfelt. Words always shine when written from truth deep within; these glow with a powerful intensity. Anxiety, terror, despair - every emotion was clear, allowing me to feel along with you. That is *true* poetry, as far as I'm concerned. This is the way it should be written - to feel, not just read.

For that particular news - stay strong and fight hard. The dice aren't done rolling yet. When it gets too hard, just remember to look around to those who care, and who are waiting to help hold you up.

I am sorry to hear the bad news. Keep fighting Cairo.... it is not the end. I see a lot of strength in these words. The message the heart is amazing.
There are three phases I see in this poem:
Fear:
Silent and somber, he lies in wait of medical results
Awaiting the white coat with whom he consults
Fear of answers, makes his body tremble
Filled with questions, as the doctors all assemble

Impatience:

White walls, a restriction from the beauty outside
Where the dragons red breath and darkness collide
Black silently steals the illuminating light of the day
Plunging into darkness as the days images fade

and Uncertainty:
He sits, contemplation resting solemnly on his face
He had his hopes up, thought he was winning the race
He tells his love, his closest friend
“Don’t worry baby, it’s is not the end”

I feel so bad for you. But please keep the faith keep your pen and paper close to help you in times as hard as this. Stay strong. Thank you for the read request.

Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear your bad news :( keep fighting Cairo, your strength is admirable, your courage is overwhelming! Kick cancer hard! Secondly, this is so emotional... I can feel your impatience and anxiousness as he waits for the results.

"White walls, a restriction from the beauty outside
Where the dragons red breath and darkness collide
Black silently steals the illuminating light of the day
Plunging into darkness as the days images fade"
These lines are incredible, I love the imagery you use, you paint such a nice picture of the sunset and of the beginning of nightfall. The words you use are beautiful and flow so well.

" Forced courage spreads across his expression
Two souls understand, a silent confession"
Forced courage, for your love's sake is so selfless, in that moment, you were thinking of her. That is beautiful and I love the silent confession as you both know what you're both thinking.

I am truly sorry for your pain, but you write so beautifully. Keep fighting and stay strong
