Blinded. But not dead yet.

Blinded. But not dead yet.

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Old poem. Same dreams.

"

                        Blinded. But not dead yet.

(Old poem from 6 July 1993. Must go to the bottom of the barrel to be
able to see the light. Now I see chances to do good things and be
a positive person. Children need their chance. Time for the quiet
one's to speak their minds. Peace must began somewhere. Even
if we do it one person at a time.)

                   I told the bartender.
                  " I don't believe in God.
I don't believe in the Devil."

"But please pour me a another double shot of the tequila.
Maybe I will find one damn reason to be alive."

In the paradise of the tequila.
                   Keeps me blind.
From what is surrounding my life.

                   A woman asked.
                   "Don't you want success? Happiness?"

                  I asked her?
                 "' What is success?
                  A fine house?
                  A house full of toys?
                  Fancy cars?
A woman who love the conveniences?"

"Will those successes get me into paradise?

I cut the lemon and limes into pieces.
Open a flesh bottle of the tequila.

                  I watched the waves.
                  Dancing on the Monterey shore.
                  My peace.
                  My reward for a life.
                  For fulfilling everyone dreams.
                  But my own.

                  The tequila.
                  After a time.
Blind you from your disappointments and sadness.

A fine escape for the great bloody dreamer.

                  In sweet dreams.
                  I had it all.
Held  my lover till the morning light.
                  Drank sweet red wine.
                  Shared tender and long kisses.
Tender love and emotion was all that was needed.

                  I stood tall and unafraid..
                  I was young in heart.
I was not afraid of mistakes.

Now the world filled with hate and war.
                 Seeing a world falling apart.
Now I try to blind my sad eyes.
                 From learning the truth.

                I toast to better days.
                Run down the beaches.
                Yelling and screaming names.
Too long gone in a life.
In a life that had been stalemated.

The tequila finally bring peace and sleep.
               Only peace for a man.
Buried in the rules of society.
               Based on money.

               I awoke.
               Tire and sore.
               Picks up my poetry book.
               I begin to write.

               For the children.
               We must gather.
Pray together for a peaceful day.
               Allow the misery and hate.
               To fate away.
To a scary children fairy tale.

Fool's wait for the end .

" Us dreamer must enter the game.
               Must dance the dance.
               Fight the good fight.
For the children of this world."

Tell the leaders of the world.
               Wars must end.
               Hate and violence must stop.

If we don't begin the new journey?

Will a million dead bodies change our ways?
A nuclear bomb drops on a area with a large population.
Show us the nightmare of war.
                   And foolishness.

             Let pray for peace.
Let stand together for peace in the streets everywhere.
Demand a new world where all children are free to dream and live.

Old words are the same today as 18 years ago. I don't drink the tequila
no more. I do see a scary world for my kids and my grandchildren.

You are a wonderful story teller my friend. Your writings are always very true to what the world is and how we exist with one another on this planet. And my friend, you are right on. Your wisdom and interpretations match what society deals and how many in this world live, view others, and you end with a life lesson which I feel if we all headed, the world we live in would be a better place. I can feel that you have lived throuh many devastating events and come away with a lesson and hope and that is the most wonderful gift. The gift of hope. When I read your work, I leave feeling I have learned, feeling lifted, feeling revived. Thank you for your outstanding writings. This one is again a magnificent gift to us.

Yes, someone always comes along and tells all sorts of reasons why the country must go to war, why more young people must die...as if its more important to be a war than at peace. For some it is, its lots of money and power. Awesome poem,

This poem, is more like an engaging story. Indeed, we must all worry about what sort of a future we are shaping for our children and grandchildren. Let them not pay for our mistakes. Like you've put so eloquently, it is easy to ignore the harsh reality by drowning yourself in "tequila", but that clearly isn't a solution. We must indeed "Tell the leaders of the world that War must stop". It is easy to be cynical and say "Peace is impossible". But we must strive towards that end nonetheless, because the alternative is disastrous. And I completely agree with your opening comment. We must start the process "one person at a time."
And I do feel there's reason enough to be hopeful. Look at the writer's cafe. There are people from so many countries here...so many different religions and races. Yet they all keep their differences aside and become friends in this world of emotion and imagination. Why can't that happen in the world on a larger scale? I am sure it can. Thanks for a wonderful poem!

"As long as one heart still holds then hope is never really gone." That is a line from Garth Brook's "The Change" that cam e to mind reading this. Every time a person of compassion gives in humanity loses.

War does need to stop, those people need to retire! Can our world have peace? With the help of God, but we first must help him, but some just plain out not willing!

Yes I agree they do need to retire. It really starts with respect. If all the leaders of the world respected eachother and all the different beliefs of this world then we could have a treaty between all of the world leaders in which every country and nation could agree to not attack eachother. If everyone respected eachother then that would bring compassion and understanding and there could in fact be peace on earth completely.
