America, the HypocriteA Poem by Wallflower societyThis is a poem I have to read in my counter culture class. Let me know what you guys think.
America, I've given you all and now I'm nothing.
America, 26 dead, December 14, 2012. I can't stand the pain. America, you hypocrite! You say we are equal, yet, you divide us. You make me feel like I'm the one who's crazy. I don't want to deal with your insanity anymore. America, will you ever change? What do you gain from our pain? One nation controlled by the media, Distracting us from your true intentions. Just let us be and stop brainwashing us with lies! This is the age where anorexia is beauty. Creating false idols, giving us an image of perfection that's unreachable. You're causing us pain and heartbreak to reach your status of beauty. I will NOT fall into your trap again! Why? What is the use America? America, you're killing my dreams. America, why are our lives so easily thrown away for yours? We go to war for you; and what's our reward? A shot in the back and returning home in a box. MLK, April 4, 1968 JFK, November 22, 1963 Abe Lincoln, April 15, 1865 All have died for YOU! Yet, you expect more to do the same. America, why have you broken your vows? Our protectors fight us, Our leaders steal from us, We fight for justice and you shut us down. America, is gay rights your biggest concern? What about riots in Ferguson? What about Sandy Hook? What about millions dying from gun violence? What about those who can't save themselves? Please, just be honest with me. America, don't you think of consequences? Here you are, dropping bombs again. America, why are you so threatened by us? Stop playing these childish games. You strike, we strike back! Is it really worth all this trouble? I'm sick of your cons America, give it up already. Haven't you taken enough from us? © 2014 Wallflower societyAuthor's Note
