Chapter 5: Confession

Chapter 5: Confession

A Chapter by Cameron Lockhart
"

Mike's self-control begins to slip as the world continues to kick him around, but can a chat with Katherine clear his head?

"

After replying to Katherine's text with a simple "On my way now!" I immediately made a beeline for the front door and locked myself out, before casually strolling over towards my destination. Hitsville was always known for its rather quiet atmosphere; even though it was only 9:00pm, and the after-party for that day's game was still going strong, there was hardly anyone walking around outside. But then again, because I was the only one on the streets, it meant that I didn't have to worry about masking the visibly shaken look on my face.

I didn't know if Katherine's doorbell had been fixed since the last time I went to her place, so I made a conscious effort to use the knocker instead. When she pulled the door open soon after, I noticed that she had already changed out of her cheerleading outfit. I wouldn't have minded banging her while she was wearing that, but the sight I was greeted with turned out to be just as hot. Standing before me with her hair worn down, she was clad in a tight, white, spaghetti-strapped top that stopped right at her navel, alongside some mauve boy-shorts that gave her a major camel-toe and accentuated her a*s remarkably well. I couldn't help but smack it as I followed her upstairs, eliciting a brief giggle from her.

"Did you by any chance bring any rubbers?" Katherine asked me over her shoulder.

I immediately froze as soon as I heard that comment. I'd just been in the middle of accepting the fact that my parents were gone, and her invitation had come out of nowhere, so...

"I'll take that as a no, then," Katherine chuckled a bit. "Not to worry, though. I always keep some on me, anyway. They say you can avoid pregnancy by using this 'natural rhythm method' and making sure not to have intercourse while the woman is ovulating, but I'd rather not take that risk."

"Me neither," I replied.

Stepping into the master suite was like entering a foreign country for the first time, compared to the familiar bedroom setting I was used to. Whereas Katherine's room was heavily personalized and decked out in stereotypically girly colors, the master bedroom sported an entirely neutral color-scheme, and could pass for any other person's room if not for the family photos on the nightstands and dresser. Not to mention the bed was twice as large, which would likely mean much less discomfort.

Upon shutting the door, we didn't hesitate to start making out and undressing each other as we clumsily made our way onto the bed, with Katherine climbing on top of me. Before things could escalate any further, however, she briefly paused to grab something out of the nightstand drawer. She then sat up with her legs parted, and I couldn't help but feel the smile creeping up on my lips as I watched her moan, inserting a female condom into herself all the while. By this point in time, I had already lost count of the amount of times we'd fucked, but even now, such a sight was all too arousing. Maybe a distraction of this type was just what I needed after all.

After we both decided we'd had enough sex for one night, Katherine and I snuggled up naked under the covers, not bothering to turn off the lamp or organize all of our discarded clothes into a pile. I felt as though I could just lay there forever, not worrying about anything related to my outside life. But unfortunately for me, Katherine felt the need to escape from my grasp and face me, snapping me back into reality.

"Sooo... I couldn't help but notice that you didn't quite bring your A-game this time," she said, slight concern marring her tone. "Is something bothering you? If so, then I'm all ears."

I sighed in response. Even during the trek over here, I knew I had to fess up at some point or another. Those three hours of dancing between the sheets had merely been a means to delay the inevitable, and right now I had no choice but to tell Katherine everything. I told her about the numerous years my parents had spent feuding with Ryan and Leslie Simmons, and how they had nearly driven our family bankrupt as they tried to outdo them, which then sent them spiraling into depression and then suicide.

"O-Oh my god!" she clasped her hands over her mouth, her eyes tearing up a little. "I really don't know what to say... uh, does anyone else know about this?"

"Nope, just you," I replied earnestly. "They did it very discretely, so with any luck, no one will notice until I report it to the authorities."

"Well listen, I'm extremely sorry for your loss," Katherine continued.

"Obviously I'm sad that they're gone now, but... honestly, the reason why they left so soon is what's really bugging me," I began. "I mean, you already know about those frequent meltdowns I had ever since Mark tackled me, but now that his family has hurt me again, I can already feel those urges coming back. And honestly, I feel like just trying to ignore them won't work this time. I-I actually feel like I need to take action! Get back at them somehow! You... you understand, right?"

"Yes, I do," Katherine replied after a few seconds. "Look, Mike. All I can say is do what you think is right. Try to achieve the peace you want in your life by any means necessary."

I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at that comment. In all of our years as a couple, Katherine had always struck me as your average good-girl, but to hear her say something like that? For a few seconds, I could've sworn she'd swapped brains with someone else.

"I can even help you if you want me to," she continued, her tone more serious. "I'm tired of seeing Mark's family ruin your life over and over again, so you won't need to ask me twice."

Without responding, I climbed out of bed and started to get dressed, picking up each of my various garments from a different part of the room.

"So what do you think, babe?" Katherine asked, prompting me to turn around and face her again.

"I'll... figure something out," I replied as I left. "See you later, Katherine."
