A Promise

A Promise

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

an evening walk among the moon and stars

"

Full moon shining clear raises my brow as it climbs the endless night.

I long to rest beneath its glow as the barred owl sings and

feel the caressing wind dance at my feet.

I’ve stood too long in the night,

Now I’m chilled down to my soul

And realize I’m here alone.

Till I see my one true love, his smile warms me true

And like a magnet born to dance to each other, we move.

Arms full of strength now wrap me in warmth

Whispering lips tickle my ear with a promise so soft

And the orchestrated night plays on.

Well well well, what a delightfully romantic poem that just made me "sigh"

Thank you Jacob so much I will fix line 4
Is there anything lovelier than moonlight? Stargazers and romantics may not believe so. It is such a voyeuristic glow, as it filters through the sheerness of curtains and vertical blinds to capture the softness of a pillow. And nothing could announce the void of a lover like the prominence of the empty side of a bed illuminated by moonlight.

Your closing line took my breath away, "and the orchestrated night plays on." Almost like a continuation, an invitation of the many nights we have to look forward to. Wonderful pen, Cherrie!
