Timeline

I was born in 1980
Lost virginity at age 15
graduated High School at age 18
graduated College at age 23
Now almost 30
What has my life become?
Should I kill myself
For not being married by age 25
Did I missed the boat?
Missed the train?
Has my life been in vain?

Time is passing by
what have I done?
what have I accomplished?
Why are we living on a timeline
should I just die?
Am I better off dead?
Should I shoot myself in the head?
Because I don't have no kids yet?
Whatever I don't care
I'm not like you
I don't want to be like you
When does the number thing end?

Married by 25
Start having babies by 30
When you're 40 their 10
When you're 50 their 20
When their 30 their on their own
When you're 60 you're on your own
So that's it life must end!
What have we learned?
What have we gained?
So much pressure
Just to live by those numbers

Life goes on, we never miss any train ... if we think we've lost an opportunity, then it's never too late to catch the next train! Trains or Boats as you say are always available to move people in the future ... we just have to find a time to get on them in order to move forward in life

And i loved the last stanza ... it revolves around the famous questions - why are we living? why are we here?

Greatly done!

I think your poem has hit on an important truth: Milestones are how people assess their lives. It is totally crazy.

The good news is the when we become parents, we learn that our kids have their own pace. Of course, by the time we find that out, we are alreadt slaves to the timeline.

This was quite a write!
I loved your play with numbers and meaning of life.
I think your reviewer is right, we never miss a train,
the thing is to make the best of every situation.
That's what you do - as I know you.
I like your attitude.
