very unique images and associations. I had to read this a few times just so I can orient my senses.
The scenes seem to hit the mind one after another, with no segways to guide the reader, which I like. It's like a post-mod film in which a series of seemingly unrelated images flashes on the screen.
"burning hides" "milk with dioxen" "caves of Hindu-Kush"...give the impression of some ancient, medieval or post apocalyptic landscape, simultaneously.
It jars not only our consciousness sense of cause-effect, but time and order.
The "she" is quite mysterious, appearing from nowhere, and I suppose She can stand for a multitude of things, as to what, haven't the slightest clue lol
Nonetheless, this piece is compelling and deserves revisits to unpeel some of the many layers.
i assume the she i was referring to was death, but that's not the intent of poetry, your interpretation is the only truth to a metaphor. thanks for the constructive reviews and positive motivation.
You show a true gift more than happy i got this read rtequest because honestly i love dark writes and this is true art to me it connects right of the bat not letting the reader go perfect in every sense cheers gonzo
well I got a request to read this and am so thankful he directed me towards this...first I pasted this in word to unearth the rich vocabulary you have used....and thanks for enriching mine as well :D as for the write Mr. Hugh, I read it several times before I could make some sense out of the seemingly disconnected images...."she" is mysterious and draws the reader towards her repeatedly...seemingly there is a deep connection between "caves" "jail cells" "board rooms" "milk" and "temple doors"..."she" as per my comprehension is "the mother" to whom we shall always return!
PS: Hope you can make the meaning clear...cant rest unless I understand a poem completely , and that's what draws me towards them again and again :)

The strong image of a women under burning hides, herself burning and pillaged and set out in the town center for the gawkers, lovers, those who wish to destroy her to no avail, she cannot be destroyed, in return she eats our ashes and grows stronger.
