Spring is on its way

Spring is on its way

A Poem by Wild Rose
"

Gees flying north for summer

"

The birds are flying north the lad said

They will be geese I replied

Going home now to

Iceland; Greenland and Svalbard

They come here for winter

Away from the real freezing cold

Then the fly north that's a sign

Getting too warm for them here

Soon it will be warmer for

We will be able to go out

No coat; no hat and no scarf

Have tea on the patio

Throw crumbs for the Blackbirds

They will hop round us to eat them

Then fly up and sit on a high perch

Where they will reward us with their sweet song

'Spring is on its way'
Wild Rose,
Like a little vignette, a story as:
"'The birds are fling north the lad said
Their will be geese I replied
Going home now to
Iceland, Greenland and Svalbard."
Europe is a wonderful land with so much to learn and see. To think of Norway, Scotland, Iceland, Greenland is a joy. Different but not so much not really for all of us yearn for the turning of the seasons.
We all claim the familiarity of where we live and know its charms. I sure enjoyed your explanation of your neck of the woods so to say. As you " throw crumbs for the blackbirds", I love to give the birds where i live seeds, fruit and watching them is my blessed reward too.

This is a most enjoyable spring poem Wild Rose which conjures up some very beautiful imagery, because I know that part of the world where you live. Also, I am fond of birds and I too have blackbirds and appreciate their wonderful song. This is a nice read.

If I may, I could point out some very minor edits, add an s on bird in line 1, stanza 1, line 3 stanza 2, I think you meant to say Then they fly north that's a sign. Typos I am sure. Thank you again

In love with the natural theme. There's something very personal about this tale of flying north for summer. This was a very warm read. I felt as if I was there as well awaiting those warm times and anxiously awaiting to feast on the weather that permits sharing times with loved ones on the patio and experiencing the treat that is the beautiful sounds of those blackbirds. Great read.

Since I love nature, it's great to "see" what things look like in a very different location. Your details are vivid & informative, as if I'm planted in that scene so I can see & feel it myself. I love the 3rd stanza becuz of the way it sounds so conversational & friendly, like an invitation into your world. The last stanza is so dynamic, as we see & feel & hear the interaction with the blackbirds. To me, the best nature writing includes all the senses, as you've done here (((HUGS))) fondly, Margie

This is so enjoyable to read! It’s a simple explanation of some simple beauties of such a beautiful season.

“They will hop around us to eat them” this was my favorite line because I can clearly imagine it and I think feeding the birds is such a sweet aspect of spring.

Much enjoyed!
