A cocktail of kaleidoscope

A cocktail of kaleidoscope

A Poem by S.zaynab.kamoonpury
"

Alliteration form, Scenes in cities ,meadows and outskirts of towns

"
Cows milked: mitigated mooing in the meadows then.
Weaving on the warp, some workaholic women.

Harvest of hapless halibuts on hooks
Bookish book-worms buried in books

A palomino and a pony patter on the paving
Hucksters and hawkers hawking every housing.

Ravers out on the razzle raising a raucous razz-ma-tazz
Beavers busy building beaver-dams but about it quite blasé.

Doves cooing in divine chorus
Frogs frisking out of focus
Horoscopes are hocus pocus.

Tidal waves of tsunami treacherously tread
Sea-anemones scattered upon the sea-bed.

Geraniums genuflecting in jungle-like gardens
Hunters wary of wandering wild-life wardens.

All this when I ventured about watching videos or videotaping
God's nature is marvelous even without any landscaping

These are direly different scenes from different parts of the globe
Perhaps like a space probe's kaleidoscopic poetic probe

This Drifter tips his helmet to you. Many's the night when I have stopped beside a pond to listen to frogs. I pedaled around under stars an watched skunks amble across a silent country road. But who else would ever appreciate such simple pleasures?

Being originally from the New Jersey shore and having spent a good deal of time in the mountains, it is so easy to appreciate Nature and its many wonders.

Take care - Dave

We need nature my dear friend. I am lucky. I can escape people and be alone in twenty minutes by car. I understand the need to be with nature. Thank you my dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I can see you had fun with this Zaynab. Its amazing how many alphabetical rhymes you've find. Sometimes it's good just to write for for fun as you've done so well.
All the best,
Alan

I was drawn to this poem as I recently wrote one myself using the Kaleidoscope idea and happened to listen to a song yesterday that mentioned the same!
I thought this was very creative, fun and uplifting. I particularly enjoyed this part -
Doves cooing in divine chorus
Frogs frisking out of focus
Horoscopes are hocus pocus.

Best wishes,
Laura.

You are very creative for you are experimenting with new forms and ideas. This is very entertaining, energizing and lively. You have a lot to offer in snapshots of life in general. Keep it up.

This is the most fun I've seen anyone have with alliteration. In my youth, we did not want to overdo alliteration (it was dumb to overdo, "experts" said). Now it seems many poets love to overdo alliteration . . . sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This poem REALLY works (with regards to extreme alliteration) and it's becuz your word choices are so unusual, bright, snappy & the overall idea of all the fresh scenes you show, it all makes this poem about much more than the alliteration. Nicely creative & fun (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You certainly cast your net wide in this collection of unconnected scenes, a reminder of the colourful variety of the world in which we live. The spread of photos added to the interest of the cocktail. Sometimes the alliteration seemed a bit contrived ('mitigated mooing'? !) and the last four lines dropped into a rather prosaic and superfluous explanation, but the fun of the poet's capture of the varying scenes was the overriding feeling. I laughed at the 'hapless halibuts', 'the bookworms buried in books' (where else?!), the ravens 'out on the razzle' with their 'raucous razz-ma-tazz' and the 'frogs frisking'.

Altogether an entertaining kaleidoscope. A pleasure to meet you.
