A Poem by DRIVEN

The skin is warm on your arm where I touch you,

sitting on the steps together out back,

sharing a cigarette,

drinking our coffee

watching the birds

and the morning traffic.

You grunt some words

in response to my questions

not fully awake

you need more coffee

before you begin

conversations.

And I take a moment to realize

I am happy

being with you

simply sitting on these steps

sharing

I love yous.

Simplicity is the most beautiful aspect to love.

Well done!

last line. I love yous? I think it should be you.
a simple and sweet little work.
a better title would earn it more views though, and it should be labeled under poetry instead of story. that aside, its very sweet and well written.

This is a really good show of emotion...It doesn't seem like much, but it just kinda got to me.. Guess maybe it's because of the situation I'm going through currently. I don't know, but either way, I like it.

You should edit this to be listed a poem. And its a good one, as you weren't trying to be poetic just letting the expression flow.

It takes longer to get moving in the morning as we get older
That extra coffee does help
If you are with the one you love it doesn't take much
to make the heart feel happy
Enjoyed the write

A simple observation of a warm moment. I mumble too, until I get my coffee.
