It Takes Two

It Takes Two

A Poem by Tasha

If it takes two to tango,
tell me how you can dance
by yourself,
I'm leaving you on the dance-floor
mainly because you have two left feet

If it takes two to make you happy,
then I'll be here for you,
but if you want to make fun of my weight
then I'm leaving,
and never looking back again

If it takes two to make me smile,
and to actually laugh again
then I did the right thing
by leaving you and your horrible rhythm...

Because right now...
it only takes me!

This poem was very interesting. I wasn't sure about it after the first read, but on the second, I found the rhythem, and after the third time, I was really felt what you were saying.
I really liked the beginning; comparing a dying relationship with a bad dance partner, and your ending was dynamic.
Write on! I am looking forward to reading more of your work!

Sometime better to dance alone with friends and leave the negative people alone. We do need people in a life. We need someone who loved and need us for who we are and how we look. I like the ending. A excellent poem.

I love the concept! Simple and straight to the point.
And I really like how you combined it with dancing.
The only criticism I have is that sometimes it doesn't flow because it feels too much like an explanation rather than a poem with rhythm and flow. But if you're not going for that, then it's great :) And thanks for adding me!

Knowing how difficult it's to do two things at the same time for a male , with unpaired legs , this reminds me of an old saying , that I translate from Finnish to my best knowledge , take it right , " dumb as the gumboot of left foot ". Brought other thoughts too , for I have danced my wedding waltz , and know how the trees bend towards each other , and cooking alone sometimes is the best supper you get .

Very powerful & right to the point! No one has the right to judge you & for taking the stand you have more class & dignity then he ever will! It does only take YOU! YOU are the only one that makes YOU happy! Very well written & explained Ta'Shandra!
