On Promised Wings

On Promised Wings

A Poem by Dani California

From promised wings, she sees your pain;

reaching for you, unnoticed,

her efforts in vain.

Through clouds of grey, speckled with blue,

you search the skies, lost,

as she cries for you.

“Close your eyes“, she whispers to your mind,

“believe in love, trust,

and you shall find“.

You feel her voice softly tickle your ear,

closing your eyes you imagine,

releasing all fear.

Eyes slowly open, before you she stands;

joy spills down your cheeks, found,

as she holds out her hands.

She kisses your lips, then softly sings

a melody of love, hope and dreams,

while soaring high on promised wings.

Oh Dani, girl!!! This is wispy, beautiful and enchanting. One of the lovely writes that makes me breathe a huge, heavy sigh. :) It reminds me of a man who's lost all hope. At first, I think it's about an angel, reaching down from the heavens to lift him up, to carry him through his pain. But, then as I read it again, it's almost as if she's alive. There, to be with him and help heal him.

Beautifully written girl. It made me smile, huge. :)

This poem has so much of what love is, Fear and hope, dreams and trust, kisses and tears. All woven into the wonderful dance of poetry. How delicate the words and how warm it left me after reading. Always a smash hit my friend.

This is truly beautiful..I loved it and the picture of the Peace dove..I had one all of the years of my seizures and his cooing would warn me to get down flat as a seizure was coming..He finally died after about 13 years but I still miss him and the sight of his wings and the love he felt for my husband and i..our Father in Heaven sees those kind of wings every day..Lucky HIM..God bless..Valentine

This is such a peaceful, comforting, wistful, glorious, wonderful piece of writing.

It's almost a prayer but also a fantasy... maybe a combination of both.

Thank you, thank you for sharing .

"She kisses your lips, then softly sings

Oh, to be loved by an angel!
Soft, gentle, comforting words, curling wisps of beauty in verse.
[p.s. I've been listening to Enya a lot today and her voice was all I could think of as I read this].
Lovely.

Thanks for sharing, Dani x

Mmmmm. I love the peaceful feeling that sweeps over me as I read this. I felt a calmness seeming to wrap its arms around me giving me a embrace of contentment and happiness. This is such a piece in which you are unable not to feel. I love the way it carried almost like a sweet whisper in my ear like it was privately being spoken to just me. Truly love it.

Great Job!!!!!!!!
