The Corridor

The Corridor

A Poem by Dani California

Her eyes trace the wounds of time,

As hesitation oozes from its sores;

This was never really here, it says

And she wonders where she’s read that before.

Chains are left dangling from her ears

While she wanders the corridor of new sound;

Her captor tugs his chain of controlled thought,

But only slightly, so she’d not know she was bound.

Her mind is oblivious to its prison

Though her spirit begs to be free;

The corridor whispers to her its secrets,

And then urges her to flee.

She doesn’t know why she can no longer stay,

Or why her heart sings a different tune;

The whispers she heard sang of hope and self-love,

Then released her from her mind’s tomb.

This is very interesting and oh, so true of many, many, people. I have found myself amazed at discoveries I have made about old theories, when suddenly freedom sounded the alarm.

I like the spirit of what you've done. I guess I have a rather antiquated view of poetry, because I always have a funny feeling about pieces that seem to be more of a narrative verse, rather than a collection of colorful and rhythmic lines that capture a mood. Still, it does convey ideas. Look into my eyes. You are getting sleepy...I wonder how susceptible you are to hypnotic states

an interesting piece, i get the feeling this is a person who is trying to start over but has no sense of direction, as the person who controls them has power to corupt without even trying. Thats my feeling, again ,this is a wonderful piece. :)

Enigmatic as memory and all the emotional associations attendant.

But o so familiar, and one feels the same upbeat relief at your character's relief from psychological bondage as one feels when the same is overcome in oneself.

A sensitive, timely piece that echoes long in the mind after reading.

This piece is vivid and the images are very profound and altogether puzzling,I feel as though this piece is not finished like their is more to the story.

But this is something definitely worth reading

What an intriguing piece, my dear. You've painted an enigma that makes one want to know more, to dwell in the deepest corner of the mind. Rhyme scheme is amazing.... The final stanza is my absolute favorite... I wonder what chained her as she continues down that long corridor of the mind... The secrets of the corridor, twisting, curving, changing.... I guess we create those chains ourselves until we discover the answer is within us.... through hope and love of self, freedom is thus attained....until that moment we are as prisoners...

Gorgeous work, as always my love. It's so good to read you again, my special friend.

Dani this is a great poem! We are all at one time or other are a prisoner to our own thoughts or someone else's.
