Moonlight Dream

Moonlight Dream

A Chapter by Desert Dreamer
"

a dream...

"

Last night I dreamt of walking

in the light of a full moon

barefoot in a flimsy nightgown

on sandstone into the desert

the land lit up in blue and silver

Datura dreams

sent to show the way to a forgotten world

Many men wanted to follow me

but they got lost along the way

you came with me for a while

you took my hand and kissed my lips

but you did not continue

along the path made of solid stone

to sit beneath the ancient Cedar tree

to listen to the wisdom spoken

Creosote dreams

sent as medicine to heal our breath

I was a goddess beneath the bright moon

during this magic hour

where dreams are created

when anything is possible

The elder Cedar tree

spoke of long lost knowledge

teaching the naming of plants

Elephant Tree dreams

sent to strengthen our blood

In darkness we receive wisdom

the powerful dreams of night

green poetry written on leaves of wise old trees

I am here if you want to sit with me

I will tell you the flower’s names

Astragalus dreams

sent to strengthen our bodies defenses

We have forgotten how to read the sky

failed to remember the sacred plants

they can no longer care for us

until we remember their identity

green beings speak

will you listen?

The ancient Egyptians, tell of a young woman who so loved the Lotus Flower "sšn" that one day, leaving all behind, she walked off into the desert, toward the sun, and never returned. It was believed that she was taken into the heavens and became the goddess sšn. She continues to watch over flowering plants to this very day! This beautiful poem of yours reminded me of that story.

Wow... I love this one... It's so vivid and brilliant! I especially love the fact that you didn't use any punctuation or rhymes. I also like the wiccan aspect of this poem (if I'm correct). Keep up the good work :]

The green Earth talks to us daily. If we listen. The blooming of flower and the natural beauty of earth need to be listen to. Without the gift of Mother Nature we wouldn't be able to live. I like this poem. A walk into the desert turn to a education of the wisdom of the night spirits. I like the ending. A powerful poem. More of us need to wander into the arms of nature and find peace and calm. A outstanding poem.

Extraordinary vision of the world too many eyes fail to see. Beautiful confessions and insights as well, to guide us all along the path. Trying to listen here.

Very creative work..I agree that things come to us in our dreams...If we have accepted Jesus as our Savior, the Holy Spirit lives within us and if we listen He speaks to us very softly..I enjoyed reading your comments on my work about "Slugabed Versus Spider"..That would be horror to awake to be eye to eye with a spider for they give venom that paralyzes and slowly consume there host..Sunflower

This author has spiritual roots deep in the Mother.
These dreams you share..... they are difficult to review as a piece of poetry.
(which is what we like about poetry we like, or no?
This tree from the granite..... A place I know... perhaps from my dreams I never can remember.
These dreams sent to strengthen our biological defenses.....
I suppose that if we were to begin telling our various acquaintances, that how capable we are physically is in direct line with what is going on inside our mind, it would draw raised eyebrows and chuckles from educated persons.
The worried slow nodding of the pastor and so forth....
You won't be getting any of that from me..
I have learned how much energy lies within an intention, or a desire.
Humans are afraid of the dark for good reasons.
And we didn't need electric can openers or pharmaceuticals when we Respected our incarnations.
Back in the day.

I am so very pleased with your articulations of things Sacred.

I would also like to say that the image on this poem is particular to me, I cannot escape these shades of blue, with their solemn silence and an icy cold.

The Cedar has a significance I am not sure of traditionally, but I know what it represents to me, knowing something of trees.
And it lends a nice image, curving and twisting defiantly out of a stone monument that feels no time, and hardly anyone uses the path anymore.....
