Waving Into Blind Eyes

Waving Into Blind Eyes

A Poem by Sweet & Tender Hooligan
"

Written in 2007. The title is from a Mansun song "WITNESS TO A MURDER (PART TWO)". Time heals most things but not all.

"
Kleptomania (standing in the way) of the heart
I’ve walked away from love,
A thousand times or more.
Ending up where I began,
A thousand times or more.
I’ve walked away from love,
Looking up to the sky through whispering trees
Waving into blind eyes, (I can see shattering hearts).

Tiny perfect moments
Like skipping stones,
Across water to another life.
Scattered hearts washed down in the rain
No help from drowning, dreams left drowning
Emotionally I’m wrapped up in vines.

Parting without being forced too
Rain soaked shoes and kaleidoscopic eyes,
Transition into your own life is static.
Balancing infrequencies on top of illusions
Swept up to the sky, raindrops fall from your eyes
Just for scarce tiny perfect moments
(But I can't see you there) dreams don't last.

Kleptomania (standing in the way) of the heart,
Sorry love it's too soon.
Waving into blind eyes (making time) can't find the time,
Sorry love it's too late.

Far away
Not far enough,
Further back
Farther from yourself.
You love; you don’t love,
You end up falling in love;
You love, you don’t love,
You end up falling in love again.

Tiny perfect moments
Like skipping stones,
Across water to your other life.

Congratulations for the contest award!!!

"Tiny perfect moments

This is a great refrain. The poem makes me think of stolen moments as rain drops falling in the ocean... they keep coming, they dissolve so quickly and yet their image remains imprinted on our memory. Love the insistant rhythm and repetition of this poem.

beautifully detailed expose on love faling and falling in love~ the image of stones skipping across water is such a delicate movement through the overall feel of regret that it balances it all out and leaves a spark of hope ascending~

this is soooo lyrical and could easily be read on an open mic night accompanied by a guitar and a pint. Trenchant.
