Like A Bird

Like A Bird

A Poem by EMG

Like a bird she spreads her evil wings and leaves me here

She goes to settle down with another bird now.

Her last words still pierce my heart like a spear,

I was left in the nest wondering “how”?

All I could manage was a single tear,

That ran down my face, no loving hand to wipe it away.

I said some things you ought not of overheard.

What I would give to go back to that first day

And for one more time I could whisper in your ear, I love my bird.
