Childhood

Childhood

A Poem by oh,hey.

Why would you want to grow up?

it's quite confusing to me,

children just want to be adults,

to feel what it's like to be free.

Childhood is the time of your life,

you have no expectations,

you almost can do anything,

with only simple limitations.

To go back would be amazing,

how great that would that be?

because I'm almost grown up now,

it doesn't feel that great to be free.

I still want my parents protection,

but all they do is moan,

you're almost all grown up now,

you have to do things on your own.

Kids, treasure your childhood,

growing up is not that fun,

I miss my simple childhood,

but my life's barely begun.

very well said.....we all have that urge to get older until we realise that we are

Childhood should be cherished. It is the time when imagination is allowed to run free and there are no expectations weighing you down. Ahh to run through field from imaginary creatures again.

I agree but i had a very short childhood. Very short but very efective. Loved it. :)

Not everyone's childhood is good though and sometimes they grow up to soon...but sometimes that is better than not growing up at all. Growing up is harder to some than others, it's good to remember good memories though but growing up will create good memories in itself.

Good Job

You know, there are some kids I know, and knew, that had/have a lot of expectations and pressure on them as kids.
Still a good write though.

Yes, I think it was a more personal write. As a child my parents never really made me feel pressured.. read more
Not bad. You have a clear concept and you execute it fairly well. There's a nice introspective tone to this which is a little tricky to get right, so well done there. I think the third stanza could be reworked a little - it seems a little weak compared to the rest. Other than that, good work.

i like the original title. this is a wonderful piece of prose, why you called it a story has me confused and may deter others from reading. i am always reluctant to read stories because many of them are just to long to hold my interest. think about that. you have examined and nicely encapsulated the theme of which many adults are very familiar, however, i would never want to go back to being a child again. kids are so cruel to each other and the learning process can be quite brutal sometimes. thank you for sharing this wonderful write.
