So Alone

A distant thunder cries out your name
As thoughts of you are within my heart
Once we were lovers, now we're apart
Alone without you, tears fall like rain

But who's to blame? We each played our part
Sometimes Love's a game you just can't win
We tried so hard, to again ~ begin
to turn the page~perfecting love's art

Would that we could go back,where we been
'Alas, all our efforts were in vain
both alone and in pain, just the same
Yet, your memory burns 'neath my skin

Love is a two way street and sometimes it just isn't enough to keep two people together... the first stanza is amazing and the whole piece is wonderfully written.
