Silver Ice

Silver Ice

A Chapter by Hannah Roi

We never know what life will bring,

When birds of life will cease to sing,

When angels of snow begin to fall,

When the wind flies away with mournful calls.
When laughter seems to fly away,

Does it promise to come another day?

When you realize there's only yesterday,

There are so many things I need to say.
The evergreens are powdery white,

The sun has faded out of sight,

Muffled silence, eerie quiet,

Life burnt out like candlelight.
And sitting here in snowy bliss,

Ice that cools my fingertips,

Knowing that you don't have long,

Before life sings its bitter song.
Memories of life and love,

Clouds open from up above,

Life brings death, but death brings life,

But darling, at least we said goodbye.
