Never Enough

Never Enough

A Chapter by Hannah Roi

Never enough
I was never enough for you
You needed something more
And I couldn't give that to you

If you lied when you kissed me
Why would you tell the truth now?
Now that I wasn't enough
And you needed her.

What did she give you that I couldn't?
What in her face that's not in mine?
What am I so lacking in
That you had to lie?

If the one person who made me feel like everything
As thrown me away like nothing
Then who do I believe?
Who do I turn to?

We made the constellations!
We stole the stars from the sky
Your green eyes were glistening
Like the evergreens we were under.

You told me that you loved me
You were the hero in the books
The books you used to read to me
That smile, that voice, that look.

You were the good guy,
You were the guy I found solace under
You were the gentleman
You never hurt me!
You promised never to hurt me!

What, how long was it?
Seven months?
That's how long it took you to walk away.

Because I was never enough.
I was never good enough for you.
Nothing ever will be.

And if I'm never enough, good,
I don't want to be something to someone like you
But if I'm not enough to the least of all
Why would I be anything to the most?

Never enough.
I was never enough.
I was never enough for you.
