Abandoned Writers Cafe

Empty rooms in empty halls.

Accounts silent - long abandoned
the words bankrupt
vacant fronts of creativity
washed over; hollow; run down.

Verbs sway on rusted hinges
the strains of old poems
cross pages like tumbleweeds.

Profiles shuttered - desolate
unopened for years, collect dust
while messages to forgotten friends
go unanswered

I still visit the profiles of old friends here, some that I know seldom if ever, revisit the site. Others are departed from life itself. I revisit their comments on my posts on other sites as well. I'll find one and say, well, wasn't that nice? This is eloquently poignant. I enjoyed and I relate. F.

As do I. They are like monoliths on a partways barren land.

Lol ..you're Welcome :D!
Oh! This is very touching. Although, I myself visit the cafe less these days, abandoned accounts feels so sad. Like a happy child left orphaned all of a sudden.
Nice work sir!

Thank you.
Brilliant poem that we all can relate too however As long as someone holds a watchful eye, nothing truly remains abandoned.

Not at all.
Always sad to see people move on and leave, especially without an explanation and without a trace. Can make it hard to trust people. Well written.

I agree, thank you.
So it is in the online world... so many brace efforts, so much disappointment, transient flowerings that wilt in the heat.. This is a well conceived poem, written with perception and effective use of images..

Gee
People come and go, the last post for some death itself, but life goes on.

I love this poem. I'll often get sad thinking about my friends who've left this site. It's not so much that they're gone (although that's bad too), but more that they left without a trace. This poem captures that feeling perfectly with its analogies. The last couple of lines speak volumes. Great work!

Waving, here... still. People disappeared, some without a word, other's sick of health, others sick of erratic techno usage, different reasons.. often sad. Sometimes tis like the good old days, sometimes not.. it's life..

Truly hope you pop in again and search for old friends who thought you'd gone to the moon. Happy landing, hope you stay. :) Emma
