The Feeling

The Feeling

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

A feeling I can't shake
It's always hidden in my wake
It knows where to turn
where I begin to burn

A shower's hot water
to burn the bad
to hide the tears
that burn hotter

It's here, it's got me
to take me
a feeling I can't shake
it's clear in my wake

Ice rattles against glass
sweet taste of whiskey
to ease this pain
hoping it would pass

A cold slide of a gun
in my hand to strip
the empty barrel
starring down eye level

A song in the background
memories taking ground
to move me on
in its favor

Tears fall down
heart's pounding
body so numb

A feeling I can't shake
It's always clear in my wake
It knows where to turn
where I begin to burn

I did like this poem my friend.

I try the above a few times. The whiskey wouldn't kill me and thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
