Let's

Let's

A Poem by JenniferMarie
"

work in progress

"

Let’s forget the deadlines,

run off to NYC, stay at the Plaza,

sip warm tea from dainty cups.

Out the window, a view of central park.

Or a sandy shore in the Virgin Islands

under the shade of a coconut tree,

as an iguana passes by.

Let’s forget the demands of work

and live in Spain,

an apartment designed by Gaudi,

I can write about the sounds of night,

Spanish accents, guitars, the stars.

You can lay in moonlight.

Let’s fall in love with Texas,

our home, roll around in blue bonnet fields,

kiss behind haystacks.

Lay silent in the barn in the glow of one lantern.

really lovely descriptive piece...i think i'll take spain...

lived in NYC as a kid...my parents lived for a couple years in Trinidad..and then seven years in texas...so been to those places...but ah yes...

if only we could leave the work behind..the deadlines, the responsibilities to jobs and other folks...and just have that "us" time...my girlfriend and i can only dream of that now...other necessary places to be...

and they aren't the beach.

but at least for a few moments you brought me there with your write.

Thank you Jacob :)
You have the same love of adventure as me, this is a planet to be explored. When my sons older, me and my lady would love to do an American adventure, just the south, the cool bits, starting at New Orleans and ending in Texas. I think you've had more adventures than me by your poems though. Nice work

Thank you Criss. I appreciate your review its encouraging.

It doesn't matter where you go! The far reaches of exotic lands or home. As long as your love is along for the ride. PS bluebonnets are lovely little things! I have seen them once, they go on and on as far as the eye can see! Lovely piece, Jennifer! Angi~
