A Poem by Jong Schrijver

The way I see a dream.

Late at night
I stare up at the sky
The darkness enveloping
All that I see.

Blending shapes and sounds
Into one
Freeing my mind
And clearing my thoughts.

Yet even in the dark
Colours appear to me
And sounds seem to morph
Into something new.

Creating for me
A vivid scene
Something of
A childs dream.

And so the stress is gone
Almost magically
And for the time being
I am peaceful.

I dread my return
Back to reality
But I know my dreams
Will await my return.

OMG!!! Soooo good!

This is very descriptive, even though it's pretty short. The last stanza shows how sleep and the familiarity of it will always act as a safe haven from reality. This is really good.

P.S. I thought I already reviewed this, but I guess not.

P.P.S I like the 'u' in 'colours'.

Beautiful poem. Makes me want to sit under the stars now all night. You carried into your dream world with every word, leaving us in a sense of peace.

I love this poem because it's perfect for how I'm feeling today. I can't function in the real world because I'm too busy thinking. Dreaming. I was beating myself up for sitting in my room instead of spending time with everyone around me. This poem made me realize that everyone needs dreams, that it's essential to just sit and dream and feel peaceful sometimes. Short lines usually make a poem choppy, but they help yours flow really well. Really good job.

So besides how perfectly this flows, i like this. Simple truths always sound impressive

...sounds to me like the hypnagogic imagery technique..

Perfect! This is exactly how dreaming feels like, so kudos on that. Great job! :)
