I'll Always Love You

This was the first poem I ever wrote. I got a lot of feedback on this when I posted it as a Myspace blog, and the feedback inspired me to keep writing. The only inspiration to this poem is a lot of heartbreak. I hope you enjoy.

 

I know I say I'm wrong, even when you say I'm right

But I can't shake these feelings, even when we fight

It might sound strange, but I see you in my dreams

But my biggest dream of all, is you falling in love with me

I love it when your mad, even when you cry

But because when we kiss, those emotions say goodbye

I get Jitters when we talk, and when I hold your hand

Even when we're silent, listening to our favorite band

But those Jitters went away, when you left me for him

The candle that expressed my love, silently went dim

You told me to grow up and start to act my age

That this is a part of life, so just hurry up and turn the page

But even if I try to forget, it's not possible

Can't you see I love you? is it not logical?

I gave you my heart, even my soul

You even said that we were one, that we were always a whole

I knew that when it came to love, you wanted a head start

But I guess you got scared of commitment, Now I cant fill this gap in my heart

I suppose I should give up now, try to fix my life

I was so depressed, But I decided to finally put down the knive

Life is just a game, nobody gets out alive

But Everybody's gotta' take a risk, gotta' go for the big dive

I'll leave you alone now, your leaving me blue

But I want you to know from the bottom of my heart, I'll always love you

For a first poem, it's fantastic! I can feel the heartbreak and when the reader can feel something, that's the sign of a great poet. This had a really nice flow and the way it all came together was amazing... It's unfortunate that some of the best poems have to come from such heartbreak, but what are we to do? Very well written. It's a poem I can relate to during certain periods of my life as I'm sure so many others can as well. It's funny the first poem I ever wrote was about a breakup, it's like you have all these emotions pouring out of you and you just need to get rid of them. Thanks for sharing.
