One's Addiction

One's Addiction

A Poem by KWP
"

we all have it to some extent - don't we?

"

they say; (yes they)

“it is unhealthy to have an addiction”

yet one finds thyself

slipping deeper and deeper

into the hold

other’s say; (yes you know ‘other’s’)

life is all about balance”

the other’s may be right

but when one slip’s deeper

one loses grip

friends say; (as friends do)

"stay strong, you are making yourself crazy"

sometimes one thinks

even their friends shall never understand

one’s own being

he says; (yes him, the wise)

"let it go, don’t hang on, accept"

one must question the validity

of his ‘so called wisdom’

one must question his/him’s own addiction

in aggreeance to all

one must confide

indeed one does have an addiction

to the eternal

in the knowing

one does not need to access it

for one reside's within

no

no

no

to the eternal and in the knowing

one does not reside within it

for one is eternity

but alas

one still does not know how to access it

the cheekiness of eternity

allowing a glimpse

enough to leave one

begging for more

insulting my ineptitude

to surrender fully

simply due to one’s own naivety

in seeing and being

absolute

eternity knows of one’s addiction

waits most patient in fact

in a state of perpetuity

not even hoping that one will come

for of course

one has been there all along

Long time, no see KWP, thank you for the RR.
Indeed, we all have addictions of one type or another, and to varying degrees of intensity.
You raise some valid points in this write, well done.

One thing I noted:
for one reside's within it
I believe the ' is not required.

This piece has conjured many visions in my mind. The meanings, and I dare not even guess, could very easily be countless. We all fall to some addiction, some good, some not so good. It is how we manage these addictions that makes us who we are. But also, how we views others (yes others) and their addictions, for it is not our place to judge, but to try to understand. if the addction is deemed bad for the person, then walk in, if not...

Very cool KWP. This was very well written.

It is the most difficult addiction of all because you know what you need, you know what you are, you know how to reach it, you know how to teach it, you know its very core, you know you were there before but you're not there, you're outside even though you're inside, you're lost even though you're found, you knocked and the door opened you went in and you're still outside! I found this addiction a very long time ago, i went in and stayed for hours of our time but for centuries of God's light, i came out, big mistake! so long ago and my addiction keeps running away when i reach for it, no money, no power, no longing can bring it back, its on the horizon and i along with everyone must push forward until we reach the summit of existence, until we reside in the light of God, that's the greatest addiction of all, thanks for this Elizabeth xxxxxxxxxxx

Oh yes addictions are a part of everyones life… some may not think they have one, but denial is a part of the process… some have more of them then others… I think all addictions are our way of finding a comfort in a crazy world.

I struggle to even say what I felt when I read this I think you have managed to make me go silent. Of course one coul comment on writing prowess becasue the stream of thought is clear, very fluid well structured. It has an affable sense of dissolution as if the words did not want to cause you get stuck on them, like that then, the meaning of the words addiciton suffered a candid interpretation as though only to emphsize the nature of feeling described. So I gave up! Sometimes it is good to admit defeat. Rather than coming up with something of myself I borrowed it from a Zen Temple Prayer time:

When you understand, you belong to the family;
When you do not understand, you are a stranger.
Those who do not understand belong to the family,
And when they understand they are strangers.

Very thoughtful and embracing write KWP

Thank you.
