Drunk

Drunk

A Poem by KWP

forgive me

and my actions

a mistake

blind to the consequences

of burning

through the nights and days

tied caution to a stake

flames engulf

the every whim

sensibility

turned to ash

as I fuelled the fire

with my drunkenness

drunk in love

with you

"I fuelled the fire
with my drunkenness.. "

Strong lines. Liked the mixing of sensuality, love & fantasy. I always say that love's like drug that makes people whether blind for love or leave 'em numb across the corners of bed.. with some 'memories'. It's very hard to escape the thrust of its addiction & your write proves my words right. Nice flow of ink. It's quiet good to read you every-day!

I love this poem... sometimes we do fall drunk in love with someone and it just takes over us uncontrollably. "Sensibility turned to ash..." I loved those words. Great write :)

mmmm...."tied caution to the stake".....haunting line that one! Know that feeling all too well......and somehow, when we reminisce, and try to understand, ourselves, after the fact, our petty thinking mostly does not offer any recourse to claim respectable sanity.....:)......My counter remedy? Hoist those flags of caution once again.....never to be taken down, right? Yeah right.....I can see those flags burning too....:)

Theres a certain kind of self-satisfaction knowing that the heart - that centre of ardour, that snuffling pig for the truffles of love - is also a bit of a booze-hound too. Kind of lets us off the hook for our alcohol cravings.
I liked this very muchly KwP.
