Just words.

Just words.

A Poem by Katarra
"

Old poem, written for my boyfriend, whom I love with all my heart, despite the miles between us.

"

It should be a simple thing

To have your kiss upon the break of day,

to feel your hand atop mine.

An embrace, sweet words whispered in my ear.

A joy, a blessing to see

Yours eyes smile and saying you adore me,

Without one move of your lips

As not a word is needed when we're near.

But words are all that we have.

Words of promise, of longing, words of hope.

Trying to last, to get by

When all that's left are dreams and memories.

It should be a simple thing

To drift off to sleep, nestled in your arms,

Where I know I belong.

For now, that must wait. I know I can wait.

Your words alone fulfill me.

Very beautifully done. I don't often read poetry I like or that speaks to me, but this piece is well written.
