Casualty of Love and War

Casualty of Love and War

A Poem by LeDiisco
"

Pretty self explanatory as you read. Everyone can relate somehow.

"

That chance that you have the strongest urge to take…

But you just can't. You back down the last minute.

Now its too late and the chance is lost.

You wish you took it, cause now you will never know.

It is true, You miss 100% of the chances you don't take.

But how can you? It is so hard?

I am not afraid of taking the chance…

I am afraid of the rejection.

I am afraid of the pain.

I am afraid of the loss.

I am afraid of the gain.

If we knew the answer, then this problem wouldn't exist.

We all need some mystery.

But is this really necessary?

It kills us…. It kills me…

Whether it being simply from confronting you….

Or changing your daily routine…

I feel it… the pit that lies deep within my stomach.

The feeling that holds me back from the pain.

But as it holds me back from the pain….

It also holds me back from a chance at happiness.

But is happiness really that great?

I don't know if its worth the risk.

Although I will be in pain if I do it or not….

Either from the rejection, or the fact of not knowing.

So in other words, if you are going to be in pain,

Why not make it worth it? And take that chance?

The hard part is fighting past that pit….

The one that is telling you not to do it…

Not to do it, until the chance is gone.

Then it turns its back on you and tells you otherwise.

YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE IT!

That's what is says….

And now you feel terrible.

But you couldn't…. I can't….

Cause for me…

It is rejection...

For you…

It is pain…

For him…

It is loss…

And for them…

It is gain…

No one wins.

Only the few exceptions.

The others lie down gracefully.

As a casualty of love and war.

I honestly don't write like this really. I just..... wrote how I was feeling. And there is a LOT of contradictions lol. But yeh... I kind of liked it.

Great expressions..."Love is a battlefield" once said by a wise woman, Pat Benatar...you captured the contradictions well on the casualty of love and war.

I enjoyed this. There are a lot of contradictions, but I think perfectly suited the tone of the poem and actually added to it a great deal. The human heart is a conflicted thing, and I think you captured that very well here.

life is full of contradictions , and regret , and hindsight in crystal clarity , especially when love or the interpetations of love , enter the formula . glad you like it , because you did express your feelings in a relatable way .

there are a lot of contradictions but thats what makes it good. it exemplifies the fact that even though we know we've got nothing to lose for trying we fear feeling like losers if we do. its not bad but id like to see more metaphors, but thats just my opinion

I enjoyed this poem, but as I read along...I couldn't wait to read your next work. This type of personal interrogation seems to always lead to the corner we turn to become a new person. This poem really hit home. I think its brilliant. I'm really glad you didnt delete it.
