The Shadow of a Spectre

The Shadow of a Spectre

A Poem by Ashley Blair

You are
Not a ghost
Unseeing
You are breathing
Your groans of
Pain
Do not go unheard
Don't be afraid of
Your
Crescendo, my dear
Your supposed hauntings
Make it so much
Clearer for the ones
Who want
To draw you near
The ones

Waiting to
Guide you
Into
The light
Of your own veins

Darling, you're alive
They tell you that you're
A shadow
A spectre on the wall
But I say
You're the sun
And all they see
Is what they want
To

So rage on in the night as long
As you want to
Scream your lament
And let them know
You have a soul
Let them know
They can have
All of your
Shadows
