It Stings

It Stings

A Poem by Laurierose
"

The deeper I search within.

"

Glimpsing through life
With a reflective lens
It stings a little
The deeper I search within
Guide my hand
So I’ll caress that timeless face
That’s seared my reality
With thoughts less chaste

Take the other, hand, and
Direct it towards the moon
Whose cratered face
Has masked this sting
So smooth

truth can hurt. the sting is part of the healing process. you can never go wrong with loving nature. it cradles us and gives us hope and compassion. the moon is so mystical, magical and magnificent. it is alive like our experiences, feelings, thoughts and memories. i love to stare at it and see that 'cratered face'.
each day and night anew ... :)

Looking back over life really does sting. That is the perfect word to describe the mix of regret, feeling dumb, missing people, wishing we could've had do-overs, etc. Your poem makes me think it feels kinda good to allow that sting to sink in for a bit. This isn't about rebuking the sting, but savoring it. After all, if Grandmother Moon could turn her cratered face (brilliant idea) into such grace, maybe we can, too (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
