Two Stars in August

Two Stars in August

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

I keep trying...

"
not the millions you imagine
but each star a stranger
lucky to be alone

in a dark flat sky
you must have been coded
and sent off as a message

here i am wax and darkness
silent in the pulled hours

Secret messages sent by star in the night sky says that, ' loneliness isn't only for a man who is alone away from other people but also for a man who is in the midst of multitude but still feel his world emptied.'

But you really expressed yourself so well sir.

Les,
An interesting little poem! I don't feel loneliness as others have said . . . I sense their importance as a personal messenger to those who look upon them. The one who sees is the one who can be awed by the brilliance of the few.

to me, each star represents someone we've lost...they have passed but their light shines on...just like it is with stars...burnt out but still burning brightly in death.
love the last two lines here..."wax and darkness" like yes, i am still alive but a part of me died with you and now i am but a representation of myself, numb of feelings. Your usual perfection here, Leslie.

Beautiful yet sad poetry here, Leslie. I’ll never look at the stars the same way again.

The stars can share the light but not their space, this is a strong visual of loneliness.

This short poem evokes much emotion. The stars are a wonder to watch, but here I feel such loneliness and emptiness as though something is missing. The night hours more difficult to contemplate, more difficult to survive when we are not at rest.

This is heartbreaking and terribly lonely. So beautifully written too. Maybe I'm a little high, I'm sorry... Were you betrayed? Is everything alright?

I get the feeling of emptiness as you describe the stars alone and we can be empty and alone even when with other people. A sad figure, melting, losing shape in a dark place. A man who once saw the heavens as full of stars but now sees a cold sky. As always such stunning, short form poetry Leslie. I hope things are looking up.
