Losing EverythingA Poem by LindsayYou wake up in the
morning To a day that is worse
than the one before. When rising from bed
requires all the energy you have, Everything else seems
impossible. You lose hope. When the smile on your
face Is nothing more than an
enigma of superficiality Failing to extend beyond
the muscles of your mouth, Unable to pass the wall
of darkness surrounding your soul. You lose happiness. You have people who love
you. HAD people who love you. They want to go out with
you. But you can’t get out of
bed. They want to share their
heartaches with you. But you have enough of
your own. You lose friends. You are hungry. But the thought of making
food And chewing. And
swallowing. Is too much for you. You lose weight. The day ends, and you are
exhausted. Tired from the pain. The
constant heartache. Thoughts racing through
your head. The moment your body hits
the sheets. Sorrows and regrets tear
through you Like a flood in its path
of destruction. You lose sleep. Every part of you begins
to slip away. You lose interest in all
the things you used to enjoy. You lose your
personality. You lose energy.
Motivation. Desire. You lose the will to
live. Told again and again you
are what you WERE. But you look in the
mirror and see what you ARE. Losing in a world where
gaining is everything. And after losing
everything- hope, friends, weight, sleep, happiness. You lose yourself. And you are left with
nothing. © 2018 Lindsay |
