Dream/Possibility

Dream/Possibility

A Poem by Karina Longo
"

Lyrical poem. I think.

"

Can you see the safety

Written at every locked door?

Do you like the creepy morning darkness

When you're all cloistered between four walls?

To break free it ain't easy, words are puzzles once again

Lakes and mirrors, shapes of Narcissus

I'll drown into my own lack of depth

Do you feel insomnia when you're awake

And it's just impossible to feel anything at all?

Can you feel love when you're lovesick

But your lover already has someone to stick with?

Dreaming of better days through the eyes of a young kid

We're growing older and the dreaming is still dream

But I just hope you won't forget this life is tough through its tests

I just hope you won't give in or give up

I'm out of control but I've still got soul

I scream and shout out of pain, maybe I'd wish I'd never see the day again

Can I forget to forget that I've tried to forget it all?

One day we shall rise and we won't fall

Dreaming of better days through the eyes of a young kid

We're growing older and the dreaming is still dream

Do you believe? Can you give a step into reality?

I really hope you won't forget this life is tough through its tests

I just hope you won't give in or give up

We can be outta control but we've got soul

Scream and shout out of pain, maybe wishing you'd never see the day again

Let's forget to forget that we've tried to forget it all?

Because one day we shall rise and we won't fall

There you are with your wonderful word-play: "Can I forget to forget that I've tried to forget it all?" I love the triple use of forget and that I have to think for a moment (pausing and drawing out the meaning of the poem) to understand where the triple forget leaves us. That was the thing that really stood out to me. Keep playing around with words. I'd like to see where it takes you.

I especially love this line............Can I forget to forget that I've tried to forget it all and the way you repeated it with a variation that included everyone...Wonderful poetry.

I agree! Life is just a test. We were given tons of trials and hardships to see until where we could be. Let's be strong and brave and face whatever comes our way :)

Good piece!
