Dead Girl Walking (Orange Flavoured Pills)

Dead Girl Walking (Orange Flavoured Pills)

A Poem by Karina Longo
"

Lyrical poems. About vice and emptiness.

"

Give me those pills

Blessed orange flavoured pills

So it can feel

Easier to breath

The world is a tiny

Tiny creepy broken toy

And I am just the pieces

Of what have been destroyed

Leave me alone

‘Cos people don’t make me feel

Anything that I could possibly feel

People, oh, they make me feel sick

They’re a perfect mix of

The seven deadly sins and

I’m the dead girl walking

Through your hypocrite dreams at night

I am the despair and I am all the laughs

You laughed when you were meant to cry

The dead girl walking through

These cold empty streets

I’m a sad unknown song

A soul with no needs

‘Cos I’m dead now

As the world falls apart

I feel dead now

While the kids play in the merry-go-round

They smile but they don’t know why

I cry and I don’t know why

Just give me some

Orange flavoured pills

So I can feel it

A little easier to breath

While I’m still here

This is fantastic. I identify with it a lot, actually. Though I've stopped abusing my medications, this reminds me of that time of my life. And I'm still identify a lot with these lines...

I am the despair and I am all the laughs
You laughed when you were meant to cry

Maybe I just have a dark, twisty sense of humor, but a lot of the time my jokes end up making people feel uncomfortable because they're dark or morbid. I saw that reflected in those lines and thought that the lines themselves were very clever. It definitely paints a picture of someone dead, who has a very different view from the orthodox perspective on something grim. It's eerie, but thoroughly enjoyable from a reading standpoint. A++

I always look forward to reading your stuff. Its always so good. I highly enjoyed this lyrical poetry. I could hear music when you wrote this:

"I’m the dead girl walking
Through your hypocrite dreams at night
I am the despair and I am all the laughs
You laughed when you were meant to cry"

Very beautiful, Karina.

Lyrical indeed, with metaphor that improves the flavor..
Grace Slick sung the same kind of song as this poem, which by the way, reminded me of "Alice"

"When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the white knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "Off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said

Feed your head
Feed your head"

Yes "feed your head" with "orange flavored pills"
You are Alice here, well displayed in written words, full of pain, as you wander through wonderland.

enjoyed this poem

Empty, stingingly empty and painful. "I'm a sad unknown song, A soul with no needs", emptiness is a strong cloud of that line, so powerful. I loved it

I don't know. I have always been too mean and grumpy to allow the world to drive me nuts. Those orange pills never done be any good. A interesting poem. I know many people who need different things to survive the day. My drug is writing. Give me peace with no suffering to the body. Emptiness will come and go. Better to start each day with hope and pray for opportunity for good things to happen. A excellent poem. Made me think again.
