Night time nightmares

Night time nightmares

A Poem by Kimberley Reid

Darkness clouds my vision at night

When I'm alone, curled up in a ball.

The nightmares creep in

And watch me while I toss and turn, as they

highlight the troubles of my life.

Is it such a bad thing I hate everything?

Is it such a crazy idea that I'm lost?

Sometimes when the nightmares arrive,

and I'm lost in myself,

As well as in the world around me.

I welcome them.

As they are who truelly

Understands a troubled soul.

They send the shadows who

make me squirm.

They send the taunts that

make me jump awake.

At least they don't pretend

everythings ok.

At least they don't sugar coat

everything like a f*****g sweet factory.

At least they know the nitty and the gritty.

And at least they see my troubles,

without showing fake pity.

We earned our nightmares as we lived the day ones. I treasure mine - are yours in color too?
