euphoria?
not sure exactly where it is
                        but
when i can almost feel your ginger scent
as it wafts through my space
              so hypnotic
                                 ahhhhhh....
i remember the swaying steps
to a distant dance
           did you know
                  fireworks are not just

                       for the fourth of july?
then you kiss my lips
your eyes suddenly thoughtful
as if considering the flavor
and i espy a crumb of desire
waiting for my tongue
         right there
and i,  my love
i am downright deliquescent
that's when i’m pretty sure
euphoria is not too far from here

"did you know
firewords are not just for
the fourth of July".

It is rare, in the middle of a love poem, that the writer stops and poses a question to the reader. It
makes the reader stop and refocus on the poems human importance, and by that I mean,
susceptible to and representative of the sympathies and frailties of hominid love.

nicely written, as always.

Perhaps it's best that we don't know exactly where euphoria is...it would derive us from the thrill of the chase. Mind you, I'm not speaking for myself here cuz I've done a lot of chasing in my life and I've grown tired of it, to put it lightly. But perhaps there are times when you catch someone's eye and you just know what's to come. I also liked how you evoked a kiss that makes the eyes suddenly thoughtful. Kissing is fun...it opens the door for a more ambitious kind of closeness, but it's also a beautiful thing on its own, regardless of whether or not anything follows. I think the crumb of desire waiting for your tongue is my favourite image...after all, the kiss will guide you wherever you were meant to be, or simply where you want to be haha Love this one :)

Very nicely done! I especially liked the line "i espy a crumb of desire" wonderful image. It is all very erotic and down right romantic and "I am sure that euphoria is not too far from here."

Your Friday night writes are just as steamy on a Monday morning Lydi. I love everything about this one and the last 3 lines - perfection!

This is like an explosion on the page Lydi....'I am downright deliquescent'...as am I after reading your luscious words! This is far better than the fourth of July, less noisy, perhaps anyway. ha, love it!

I find your vocabulary impressive and your use of spacing and lowercase letters interesting. Loved the poem. Not only the passion is clear, but also the love. It is as if you write from vivid experience.

I have been fortunate when it comes to love...absolutely. Thank you so much for your review, Laura... read more
I found it once, it is between abstinence and fornication in my Funk and Wagnall dictionary.
I also found it a few times in the back seat of my 57 Chevy. OK, not sure it was that, but I was sure it was not more than a page or two from excitement. Excellent poem. Trace

Smiling here. Thanks, Trace. Your reviews mean a lot to me. Lydi**
I was feeling the tone of the poetic persona : the romance, the excitement, and suddenly there came out a question that made me suddenly pause, think outside the moment of euphoria, then went back again as I continue reading the poem to end. Clever twisting you have done here. Beautiful.

A very romantic and elating poem, it touches the heart, straightaway. You have brilliantly brought alive the euphoric high of being in love. This poem is a wonderful tribute to love and passion.

Oh Lydi, this made me feel like I just wanted to exhale a moan at the end of it. I love when something can tickle my senses, the way you added in the "ahhhhhh" worked wonderfully and made me take a deep breath in and out when I read it. Beautiful!
