Practical World II

Practical World II

A Poem by Marina
"

A continuation of Practical World in a stream of consciousness style. Sometimes I wish that life would just be easier.

"

What if, when we are too shy or too unaware of our emotions

a small paper started rolling from the back of our head

kinda like the receipts unfold from the cashier’s machine

with all our thoughts printed on it

and we could give it to the other person.

So for example a person could have a paper with these thoughts on:

“I love you. Basically, that’s it. It seems simpler in my mind, but sometimes I’m too afraid-sometimes I think I may be wrong, I want to be true to you-I’m scared-I like your company-I’m scared-I feel weird-I like your eyes”

And what if everyone in the world who listened to the exact same song

at the exact same time

would get goosebumps

and their goosebumps would send tiny gushes of wind to the other person

but the wind would be of color purple

so that they could see it

and they would know that they have company and they are not alone

and they can enjoy the power and beauty of the said song together

with their purple wind made from everyone’s goosebumps

And what if we could have an 'eye language'

-because the one we have now sucks-

just like there's a sign language

so that we could communicate with a stranger

effectively, without the burden of speaking

if we didn't feel like it

now that would be really something.

After reading this I was reminded by this anime "Nerawareta Gakuen" which contains the same context as this poem. It's very interesting to think when the time comes technology will become obsolete and all we have is ourselves. With far more capabilities to connect and reach out to people.

I hear ya. Sometimes, even in passing, we can be made to feel awkward and clumsy, when all we can think of is how hard can it be just to say hello. We walk on by and never know what might have happened if confidence was higher, for both parties involved. We can put our head down and shuffle on, but what if that was the person we needed in our life right now...what if that person needed you in their life, or just a smile to make their day less worse. It is a minefield of modern living that few seem to know the answer to, but I think you may be onto something with the code, let me know if it ever catches on :)

I sure will :)
And boy you are right! Thanks again for your philosophical thoughts, I really.. read more
some times words mess up everything.. and essentially if we pull back all the shades we are all the same seeking basically the same things.. emotions and sensitivity mean we are paying attention.. those who do not pay attention to the world around them, do not feel the emotions that those who are more sensitive do. good write.. good thoughts..

And yet these people seem to have it easier in life than the rest of us! Thank you :)
Just thinking back to my first ever job interview, which turned out to be a total disaster.
How that small bit of paper with all my thoughts on it might have changed the outcome.
Just think, if you just handed a girl in the bar that bit of paper. She handed you one back. It could be utopia.

I know right?! :D
Very imaginative. Really like your concept. Great writing, part 1 and 2 both are extraordinary.
