White Beauty

White Beauty

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

White beauty

you act so peculiar for a cat.

Why do you lie all spread out like that?

With your legs stretched out as far as you can,

You look like you could take off like superman.

Legs to the front

                and legs to the back,

Until something walks by for you to attack.

You either are batting the dog in the nose,

Or pouncing right on your people’s toes.

I've never seen a cat do that before.

All spread out

               flat on the floor.

But what really amazes me about you,

Is that you taught the dog to do it too.

You have described a cat perfectly. When they are all sprawled out like that, can't help but think--"Cat's have the life don't they? Not a care in the world..." Another cute write. Thanks for sharing...

Graceful, slinky, subtle, elegant, sly, stealthy and that's just the cat - your poetic and humorous take on animal magnetism is just that - an attracting and enjoyable read!

Excellent!

Very cute; it made me smile after having a crappy day! :-) I'm a cat person myself, although I don't have one. Cats are cool creatures. I liked this piece.

Mejasha, I adore this poem! I'm a cat person, so I can relate, except my white cat, Jinxie, lays flat on her back with her paws in the air lol

Gotta love 'em.....excellent poem here!

Laughed out loud for several minutes at the last lines! *Wait, laughing again, just read the part about it being true* You captured the quirkiness of this feline in a few short lines, and I can completely picture it on the floor, attacking unsuspecting guests. You have one very satisfied reader today. *Still giggling*
