50 Shades of Lol

50 Shades of Lol

A Story by Michael Thrower
"

I don't even...

"

“Ah, your house always smells like fresh baked bread” I said as I left Leon’s house and stepped back outside.

“Man, I gotta piss” Dakota said urgently, “I’ll just step out onto the side of the house.”

“Dude, the bathroom is right inside, literally less than ten feet through the door. Plus, his house smells really nice and homey. Go check it out.” I told Dakota, opening the door.

“I’ve been in there before.” He said, stepping past me and closing the door behind him.

“So Leon, why does your house smell so nice?” I asked, opening the door and inviting myself back in.

“It’s always been like that. I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about.” He said, following me in and making his way over to a large computer propped up on a shelf. “Let’s see if Emilia has replied. . . Nope.”

“You have way too many mirrors in there.” Dakota said, coming out of the bathroom.

“Let’s step back outside.” I began, following Dakota outside. As we all stood out on his front porch, a chill wind swept from the hill below, causing each of us to shiver. Leon’s cat climbed onto the railing beside his house, sniffing and looking around at the side of his wall. “Have you ever pushed your cat off of there?”

“Hah! As if. This cat won’t fall off anything. Trust me, he manages to hold on somehow and gets away.” Leon spoke, laughing.

“Oh yeah? Try it th-“ Before I could finish the sentence, Leon quickly and almost unnoticeable, without expression, shoved his cat off the railing. The cat quickly made a grab for the wooden slab before missing and flipping off a 10 ft. plunge, landing with a soft thud and pissed off meow.

*blink blink* What??

So this is the first piece of yours I have read, and, well...What??

Seriously...why does the house always smell like fresh baked bread? And why does everyone keep saying they are going to "step" places? "I'll just step outside..." "Let's step back outside..." Who says that??

Anyway, all joking apart, this was cute and clever and the pissed off cat in the end made me lol, so...good on ya. My best advice I can offer: keep up the hard work. Some people are born writers, but they do not necessarily come out of the womb spouting brilliance, okay? If you are serious about the craft, just keep writing. It is the ONLY way you are going to improve.
