"Poets"

"Poets"

A Poem by Michael Thrower
"

It might make more sense to WC writers rather than outside sources.

"

Suppose it’s time I write again

Another ballad; a twist and spin

To each their own opinions, of course

For what I write has been explored

The ones who write what they don’t know

Are always out just for the show,

But when the time is theirs again…

Puzzled and bound, they’ll die within.

A lost cause and a hope shattered,

A lying poet has never mattered.

The story is flawed by blind concept

And then they lose all Our respect.

I say this to tell a story of mine,

A poet who wrote that couldn’t rhyme

Word after word was told untrue

Like politics, religion, ideas, and who?

Rather than stories, concepts, or times,

They wrote of the people they had in mind.

Cursing and spitting in their direction,

The poems were told with sad affection.

Nothing was right except their hate.

For whatever reasons they chose to state

Everything negative they could sputter

Down of their “Significant Other”.

Author's Note

Michael Thrower
I felt like writing a poem because, why not?

Anyway. It's focused at the people who don't REALLY, and I can't stress this enough, REALLY <---- Write poems. They are the people who write one long sentence, literally, call it a poem, and when you read it... Lord help me, it's like falling down a staircase. An uneven staircase. Then when you finally hit the bottom, some asshole comes by and kicks you in the face. "I hate my ex, they're such a". Yeah yeah, those kinds. Dramatic, yes, that's what they were most likely going for. I hope. But did it succeed as being dramatic? Hell no. They might as well have slammed their head into a keyboard out of hate.

The whole poem was good and full of great meanings but those are my favorite lines...:)

Well thank you very much! I'm glad I impressed someone ;)
Ok I agree that just writing anything and expecting it to be praised is wrong. However very little of what I write actually rhymes - although i like to think it has rhythm and flow and I have also read some annoying ' rhyming' poetry where words have been selected solely for the reason that they rhyme rather than being the most suitable word. I think you are right though in your assumption that some writing sounds more like a dismissive text message to a specific person without any thought at all to the reader.

Exactly! And no, not all poetry has to rhyme. Not at all. Some of the best poetry DOESN'T rhyme. Rat.. read more
I hope I don't irritate you with my poems but if I do I'm sorry. Though I don't care if anyone likes them or not I just remember why I right them. Good job, this was very creative.

I don't know which is worse...the wannabe Shakespeares or the vomit of a teenage minded "poet".

I guess they both piss me off.

Actually, rhyming in poetry kind of annoys me,
No offense to you, your rhymes are more complicated than "love" and "dove"

As you know i think we all can relate here ! Great write about it btw !!
But it does apply to other parts of life, so I think outside W C will relate also...I find people will be who they are..where they are...and you can see it plain as day reflected in their writing, wither it be a poem, story , review or comment..

I loved this piece. I agree some people just write one line and long sentences. It really does get annoying. I mean if you write from the heart then that is always a good thing, but people don't know how to write poetry. Then again their is poetry that is free form. Their doesn't always have to rhyme, but it seems people don't always understand that. I do hate the one liners though. They can be very annoying because they get annoyed when you just say "good job" and nothing else. I mean what else can you say. Thank you for sharing.
