Excess of ''maybes''

Excess of ''maybes''

A Poem by Ana B.

Breathe in through the fog of war

Blindly searching for peace,

Eagerly stepping over heads at the first call,

Climbing mountains of hoodwinked knees

To untangle from the noise of chaos

And hurry up to the beautifully arranged cell.

Could we ever see these crimes so heinous,

At which we so effortlessly excel?

Maybe darkness is just another form of light

Maybe vice versa.

And maybe I’ll start over everything tonight,

And convince myself, that I am a nice person.

Or maybe thinking is just another form of flying

And that’s why I can’t ever seem to land smoothly.

Ridiculously adept at lying

We think we know the truth, convinced of it so resolutely.

Breathe out, one more sip.

I think once you dig the hole, it's easier to keep on digging.
One thing about truth, you can always play around with it, though at some point the game is up.

Dang Ana, how I missed your words.
Ridiculously adept at lying indeed.
Escaping to our cell. I died twice when I read that.

" or maybe thinking is just another form of flying,
and that's why i can't ever seem to land smoothly." i like it, the thought of our mind and what we think and imagine as being chaotic and unsteady at times...thank you for sharing your heart with us Ana.

Your welcome 😊
The last line - I am unsure, "breath" or breathe?

Did you get "caught-up" in history or the present?
