Within

When someone tries to dim your light

Remember - there is a sun in you.

As long as it will shine, you’ll be alright

No shadows can ever break through.

 

And when it hurts to breathe -

Close your eyes and slowly exhale.

To the world you may seem naïve,

But the truth will always prevail.

 

Give it a day, give it a year,

Its nature cannot stay hidden for long.

Although is easy to be ruled by fear

                                                        of the unclear

Just remember you are precious - you are strong.

 

Face the world with joy

And you will feel it’s warm embrace.

Be your own hope, not your enemy’s toy

And you’ll find happiness shining ablaze,

 

Where it always has been.

"Be your own hope, not your enemy’s toy" yes yes yes!! love the metaphor/analogy with the sun! as i read i imagined how far greater and more successful ol Sol really is ... it outlasts every single night and even then shows it's blazing reflected on la luna! bella luna!! i was drawn to listen to the music as i read and it fits perfect .. the free verse you use lends to very natural pauses and the music changes went right along with it .. delighted to read this morning Ana!
