Paper Airplanes

Paper Airplanes

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Paper  Airplanes

crumpled balls of paper

begin to accumulate

in my waste basket

day after day

they become nothing more

than unfinished attempts

at writing poetry

and what could have been

paper airplanes.

even when words don't find you, thoughts will. I love Paper Airplanes - it reminded me of my childhood and brought back those wonderful memories to the fore. a simple, honest write that captures the poet's mind. I like the expression here and memories it evoked, and thanks for sharing this, Kelly.

Oh yes, every poet can identify with your words. Sometimes the best way to end a writers block is to write about it. Always enjoy your poetry Kelly. Lydi****

I really love the ending in this, leaves a lot room for the readers own mages. I love when short poems have a punch

Thank you, Pat! Hope you had a wonderful birthday!
This is a very smart poem. How do we get a poem to fly ?

Just make an airplane out of it. Then see if you can hit the trash can! Thanks, David!
Wow. I go through periods where I do more shredding than writing and this hits close to home. Well done. ~Jim

Thank you, Jim! So good to see you!
This is disjunction at its finest and a totally publishable poem if it lands on the right editor’s desk.

I’d try Rattle: Tim Green likes short poems and humor.

Don't forget your PATRIOT shirt, Pete!! Lol, thank you!!
And yet we never learn not to scrunch them up so that they can fly away one day, albeit not in the way we thought.
Perhaps moving your basket to the other end of the room would help, unless of course it's on your laptop, where no matter whether you place one piece of paper or a thousand it always shows as full.
I know the feeling well. That feeling where you have to smile at yourself when you don't even like rhyme, but can only find sasquatch to go with patch!
When that happens I just go for a nap. Thank goodness I still work from home most days! 😃
