Wishing Puddle

Wishing Puddle

A Poem by Cassiopia Summers
"

I saw a puddle and it reminded me of a Wishing Well.

"
See that puddle on the ground
your wishes, there they shall be found.
You wish you may,
you wish you might.
I wish to find where my secrets lay,
even if, in the end, I shall have to pay.
This coin, here in my right hand
I will throw it in and watch it land.
The ripple effect will make me wonder,
prove to me all I feel is the hunger.
The need to know what my future holds,
should I look, should I see, fate already has me sold.
You wish you may,
you wish you might.
Today I looked into the wishing puddle,
my thoughts the images did muddle.
I saw today what nobody should,
pictures I'd erase if only I could.
You wish you may,
these thoughts you think lead far away
You wish you might,
for you must be careful what you wish tonight.

Today while walking in the rain, I happened to see my reflection in a puddle. This puddle made me think of a wishing well, which in turn inspired this poem about a Wishing Puddle.

Tell me what you think. (:

Careful what you wish for... no matter how many times this can be told it always rings true. Be satisfied with what you have. The poem was good, colours reminded me of a rainy day, but watch your meter. It's all over the place and throws a rock into the river that is your flow. Remember to count syllables.

Very clever write!
"Wishing puddle"-- don't think I've ever heard that one before.
You interweave the well and puddle imagery nicely here.
The idea you create that the images reflected in a puddle would not
be very pleasing is very effective.

Very nice imagery. Sometimes I wish a wish (any wish) would come true... Oh well. No lottery again!

I do like wishing well imagery though. I used it a little differently in A Winter's Night. A little darker and searching. But yours, I like!

Hello Lunae,

I think it is very true and very pretty. More importantly it has a message, and I do love messages. I don't know why, but I get all hyper councing in my chair going oh oh oh I get it I get it. Kinda funny if you were here watching. You might think I was like Chunk from Goonies.

Regards,

Matthew
