How Old is New

How Old is New

A Poem by Neville

How Old is New

You say you are new

Well that’s cool

Although I note you once

used a pseudonym or two…..

You say you are new

That’s so very cool

But you sound more like some kind

of psychopath….

You say that you’re new

That’s so totally cool

Although I don’t believe a single word

you say…..

You are not new though, are you

You are angry and bitter and lonely

A martinet masquerading as a man

of words….

You are not new, are you

Far from it

Though you are desperate to appear

both cool and well read…..

You are a mannequin, making out

like some kind of poet

Preoccupied with coitus, bodily fluids

and get this, volcano’s….

Now where did that come from?

You are not new, and here’s the rub

You know what you are but not who

Take it from me,

I know you far too well…..

OUCH! This one will definitely be a zinger for anyone who engages this way! I find it amazing when people change their handles . . . they've just tossed any recognition factor they might've worked so hard to develop in their reading audience. I agree with everything you've said, altho I don't have the patience to read very much of these kinds of writers, so I didn't realize how it resonates for others too! Good job of not sparing the rod. I love it when someone tells it like it is *smile* Fondly, Margie

Anyone in particular? I guess there'll always be a few of them about. What makes them tick, I'll probably never understand. And then Jacob's comment about the name-changers--that sure is frustrating. I think I'll just stick with "Sam", although I have thought about spicing things up with some clever add-on like "Doctor" or "Professor". (Nah! Jes I'm kidding!) Sam I am and will remain.

These words of yours got me confused a bit; how in the world a pretender thought it could fool a brilliant poet?

Thank you. It is my sheer delight to read your words. all the best- Mrudula
i have to admit...i see poetry posted on my board---it is from friends...but i often don't recognize the name because it is the umpteenth time this person has changed pseudonyms----and i just find it frustrating...do i know this person or not?
but i guess there are reasons to which i am not privy...
