A Gift of Seasons

Although

I have so many

Autumns now

Beneath my belt

It was

The winters

Stole

My youth

Tho spring it would

Distract me so and

Took

My innocence

Twas summer

Always smiled

On me and pointed

T’ward the truth

Then would you have it

Any other way my friend

No, but gift me

One last summer….

I understand this perfectly, Neville. I too have far more autumns under my belt than I care to mention, but I will take as many more as I am gifted and be happy for them.
In my part of the world the four seasons are an accepted part of life...each one special in its own way...right now summer has been almost perfect.
Winter can be difficult...but "global warming"..."climate change"...whatever else they'd like to call it...I prefer weather...will change that, right? ;>{0}

A good write, sir.

I have to be honest, there were many years I was NOT begging for more. But there's something irresistible about life that beckons even when we're dead set against the path. And now that I made it this far, I'm glad I had that damn stubborn will to survive! I love the way you paint each season with fresh sensations, not typical imagery. This had the effect of blasting me from my usual season interpretations & pondering new ones! (((FLIP))) Fondly, Margie

Then I am a contented man... Thank you Kescha ... N:)
Truth like passing seasons brings us to the place where we need to eventually arrive- temperatures differ and we live and learn sometimes we can’t always have what we want...🌹

' T’ward the truth .. '

Your words hit home, but then, they always have. Perhaps tis better to think of the four seasons as each every day: - dawn, noon, any time preferred and of course, at night. Each used - at best, to its full. Not a moment wasted even if just standing feeling a breath, sensing a touch. Not a moment wasted in indiscriminate juggling or if you prefer, in looking at one's secret thoughts and emotions as colour recalled. Failure isn't an option. Never can be, given the chance.

You are a closet zen master, I believe, Neville. I like the idea of asking readers to look at themselves when reading a poem. I suppose it’s what we do when reading, in a sense, but really focusing can bring an interesting dynamic to the reading experience.

I was inspired to write my new poem after reading this because it made me think of the different meanings and contexts we all attach to certain things.

Of course your seasons are quite metaphorical- but there’s the comparison to the world and how we find ourselves in it. I think it’s how we come to understand it or at least accept it.

I like the idea of repeated summer as the prime moments being sustained. Every season brings some new experience. I’m interested in your take which seems to offer a weaving in and out with differing experience. Continual time with its ebb and flow.

Lovely, contemplative poem.
