Nevafar

A Poem by Neville

Nevafar

Her words, although lost on the wind

Je riviendrai mon amour ..

Yet still, they come back to haunt me

..

And like the scent of her drifting

They do tease and delight

The corners of these poor eyes and these lips

..

Yes, poor things

Both now seriously redundant,

Yet primed and with hope, forever and always

The wind sweeps everything away...even those words of goodbye murmured with a reluctance and a heavy heart. And yes, the fond hopes never die and those poor lips curl in a little smile every now and then, in solitude. A poem full of gentle reflection and longings.....

There are a handful of people in one's life who stay lodged in one's awareness & you've described deliciously how it can feel when a long-lost beloved lingers beyond all palpable reality (((ANGEL))) Fondly, Margie

wow ... "poor things
Both now seriously redundant," ... the contrast "Yet primed and with hope, forever and always" is stunning .. poignantly sad and so emotive .. such love ... and she a ghost ... no satisfaction for the eyes .. no warmth to affirm the lips .. killer poem sir .. love the French (didn't even have to look that one up) and i especially like "....the scent of her drifting" ..for me that line is instantly evocative inspirational .. a sylph over the waters ..and your speaker the revenant to memories :( well done! so surgical yet full ..

............................. and write back at ya :)
I do believe you have written of her before and I distinctly caught the waft of je reviens perfume too if I am not mistaken. A lovely poem Neville which reminds me that nothing we have is permanent. All things pass on and we are left with reflections and hope when the wind changes direction.

.................. thank you Fay :)
dearest Neville... it seems our lips
are always expressing our need for
affection along with a scent of blossoms
awakening with sensuous delicate intentions.
Lovers beware... tenderly, Pat
